F.G.L. (oídos de Lorca)   1997

In this third big project, the company is mantaining the same line of choreographical research to unite the language of traditional spanish dances with the aesthetic of contemporary dance.
F.G.L. (oídos de Lorca), Lorca's ears, is a historical approach to the poet by means of different  musics of his time, that might have arrived to his ears, before his untimely death in 1936. We want to pay hommage to Federico García Lorca with a musical journey through his life: a concert by artists who were contemporaries of this musician, painter and poet, together with some popular songs that were chosen arranged and performed on the piano by himself.
Through dance we recreate his poetic universe, playing in intimate and abstract way with the images, colours and sounds of his verses.

FLAMENCO FOR GARCIA LORCA

No other group can combine Flamenco with contemporary dance to the same extent as Increpación Danza (Reproach Dance). That's what the collected reviews say. That sound suspicious. After all, what sounds like a renewal of Flamenco would also mean the combining of two already complex art forms. The choreographers...hardly make things easier on themselves, when they mesure their words against classical atributes in the sense of the art historian  Heinrich Wölffin: ‘closed form', ‘Size and Simplicity', ‘Clarity', and always adding the remains of something unsolved, to be sensed as a way to engendering the balance: This also applies to the brilliantly composed "Wad Ras" ( Barcelona's famous women's prison)...
Ramon Baeza refers to his work as a pure form of folklore: "Like any other folkloric work, Flamenco pays close attention to its roots, to ensure as contemporary an appeal as possible, and to make sure that contact with the people is never broken". It's not bad: Increpación danza manages to bring together complete attributes from the classical, modern and folklore traditions. Even with its latest piece , F.G.L. (oídos de Lorca) (Federico García Lorca's ears)...The terseness of the stage clearly promises the complete absence of naturalism...Viewed compositionally, the minimalism, as a self imposed dictate, discharges here an unceasing tension, a held breath and, right up to the end, a totally self-evident piece.

MODERN STYLE IS THE LINGUA FRANCA OF WORLD DANCE MOVEMENT

The company reached the heights of aesthetic elegance in their new work “F.G.L. (oídos de Lorca), a tributal suite to the birth centennary of Spain’s poet laureate, playwright, and musician Federico García Lorca. Known for the simplicity and delicateness of his literary style , Increpacion’s artistic directors Montse Sánchez and Ramón Baeza displayed great artistic genius and high level of sophistication in the way they captured Garcia Lorca’s essence on stage ... Evoking humor and curiosity , this made  interesting and remarcable choreography. But more importantly, the company’s ingenuous design of one simple set for a variety of purposes ebodies the “less is more” philosophy behind the minimalist school of thought...Enhanced by superb lighting, the overall effect was neat, elegant poetry in motion that would have made Garcia Lorca ecstatic...his approach lends itself to a hight sophistication in taste which distinguishes masters from amateurs. Increpacion Danza’s visit to Manila brings us the most valuable insight into artistic integrity...Aesthetically, it has also proved that clarity and simplicity can be most powerfully compelling and elevating.

MAGNIFICENT CHOREOGRAPHY BRILLIANTLY INTERPRETED

Increpación danza aims to transcend the traditional, to elevate it to the ultimate levels of originality, creativity, imagination and artistry. This objective the group has attained  superbly. Yet, in having done so, Increpación danza has remained unmistakably, unequivocally and dramatically Spanish in identity, spirit and essence.

REVOLUTIONARY PHILIPPINE INTERNATIONAL DANCE FESTIVAL AND CONFERENCE

Spain's Increpación danza  elicited a vociferous reponse with a work entitled F.G.L. (ears of Lorca)
Of the visiting companies, Spain's all female Increpación danza elicited the most inmediate and vociferous response. Working with flamenco in a modern mode, as in Wad Ras, about women in Barcelona prison, and F.G.L. (oídos de Lorca) ("F.G.L.(ears of Lorca)"), the troupe compositional means was obvious, but the dancers' performances rose to ecstasic heights.
